Patterns and Prints
by: Eboni Warren

This fall and winter DO: wear prints and colors. If you haven’t noticed, matchy, matchy is not “IN” anymore. But being brave and bold is “IN”, allowing for the opportunity for everyone to let their individuality shine through. What’s matchy, matchy? My black and white checkered hat matches my black and white checkered belt that matches my black and white checkered handbag to accent my black and white checkered shoes. STOP!!! Don’t do it. My eyes can only take so much order, so much discipline. Step out side the box, be brave!!!

Try a patterned base top or a funky color top with a nice pair of jeans and the hottest boots you own. Grab a handbag that doesn’t at all look like you bought your shoes with it and off you go. Or picture this, a frumpy skirt, like the one in the picture above, a form fitted long-sleeve shirt, an oversized handbag that doesn’t match a striped scarf. No one says you have to over do the color and patterns. And you really shouldn’t, because you don’t want your fashion audience to get confused. But you do want them to know that you know exactly what you’re doing. And what you are doing is illustrating your “YOU”.

You really only need a few things to pull out the fun in any boring outfit you own. Spending a lot on it isn’t something MoveNewz promotes. So we advise you to shop around before making all of these purchases. Check the list below and have fun with it:

1.Scarves- three should get through this season. Try a bold darker color, a print (stripes, checkers, or polka dots), and try a bright fun color for sunny cold days.

2.Handbags-two or three will do you well. An oversized brown or black leather bag, a small bold color clutch, and if you really feel good get a medium sized print or colored tote.

3.Boots and shooties-keep a favorite pair of both. Pick your flare of boots and shooties, they will work for a lot of the skirts and skinny jeans you wear this winter.

4.Earrings-get lots. Target and Forever 21 has a lot of fun earrings. They may not last ten years, but for a season or two, you will get your money’s worth. A nice eye-catching pair of earrings can complete most outfits.

5.Long sleeve fitting shirts-get as many colors as you love. Long sleeve fitting tees go well with jeans, skirts, sweats (on bum day), and slacks with a blazer.

Try these 5 simple goodies and you can turn your everyday suit into a style of your own.
